The former Carmelite church, also known as the Prandtauerkirche, is at the southern end of Rathausplatz. It was built between 1708 and 1712, promoted by Princess Maria Antonia Josepha Montecuccoli, and, despite its apparent association with Jakob Prandtauer, it was actually originally the work of Martin Wittwer. The Princess’s family coat of arms can be seen on splendid façade of the church. The interior was subsequently remodelled and rearranged by Matthias Stein and Prandttauer in the High baroque idiom. The noteworthy high altar is attributed to Lukas von Hildebrandt.
