Kardinal-Schwarzenberg-Haus, a former granary named after Cardinal Friedrich Fürst zu Schwarzenberg, contains the archive and library of the Archdiocese of Salzburg which are amongst Austria’s most precious cultural treasures. There are microfiche copies of historical documents, such as registers and accounts, from parishes all over Austria. The building, which stands on the site of an early mediaeval graveyard, contains an auditorium which is used for public chamber concerts and music recitals and a recently opened music school, the Salzburg Musikum.
