The brewery and tavern at the Mülln monastery in Salzburg have been in existence since 1621. The monastery was built for the Augustinians in Mülln, on the northern slopes of the Mönchsberg hill, between 1607 and 1614. Eventually, in the 19th century, Emperor Ferdinand the Kind handed over the monastery to the Benedictines. The beer, which is a favourite of Salzburg residents, is produced according to old traditional methods and is served from the barrel in old stone mugs.
