Kirchberg’s municipal offices house a permanent exhibition devoted to the famous philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein who was a public school teacher here, and in neighbouring Trattenbach, between the years 1920 and 1926. Apparently these were not particularly happy years for Wittgenstein as he found it a struggle to deal with his less enthusiastic and talented pupils, preferring only those who were clever and diligent. Nevertheless, the exhibition not only deals with biographical details but also with his philosophical ideas and attempts to unravel the myth of the often misjudged man.
