The Landhaus, today the seat of the provisional government of Upper Austria, was built, in Renaissance style, between 1564 and 1571. The site was formerly occupied by a Minorite convent whch burned down in the 19th century. The building’s arcaded courtyard, the scene of many concerts, is dominated by the Fountain of the Planets with its bronze statues. The north portal has a beautiful window over a red marble doorway. The marble was mined on the Untersberg.
