The Phoenix Theatre is devoted, above all, to presenting provocative modern dramas, plays, premieres of works by Austrian playwrights and new productions of the classics. The theatre’s objectives are to promote new drama particularly, with contemporary political and social themes and to support new authors by making their works more accessible to the public. In conjunction with the theatrical programme there are special events such as readings and lectures. The Phoenix is notable for having its own publishing house.
