Lunz’s Pfarrkiche is one of the most beautiful churches in the region. The building is a Gothic, two storey hall church dating from the 15th century, which was a popular destination for pilgrims on their war to Mariazell on the Pilgerweg. At the beginning of the 18th century, in common with many Austrian churches, it was remodelled in the Gothic style and later, at the end of the 19th century once again changed to conform to the neo-Gothic ideal. In the middle of the 20th century, once again the building was altered to emphasize its Gothic origins with new altars and a pulpit. The body of the church is lofty and well proportioned with fine vaulting.
