The Panorama Museum, in its stunning mountain top location, opened in 1995. The building in which it is housed was once a hunting lodge and was frequented by Austria’s finest including Emperor Franz Josef I, who spent the Summer months at nearby Bad Ischl. It has extensive views over the surrounding mountains and exhibits of local crafts, geology, hunting, rural life, toy manufacture and fishing. In the museum there is a 3.2 metre long shotgun, or punt gun, used for duck hunting on the Trausee.
