The Alpensvereinsmuseum (Museum of the Alpine Association) is host to an extensive collection of Alpine art. Exhibits include numerous models of mountain ranges from throughout the Alps and mountain huts, friezes, Alpine cartography and information on its development, as well as historic mountaineering and Alpine equipment, with some of it belonging to famous Alpinists. The beginnings of Alpinism and Alpine tourism are documented through graphic art from the 18th and 19th century and there are some important paintings by British mountain painter, Edward Theodore Compton.
