The market plcae is on Wagram hill and is the historical centre of Kirchberg. Early bronze age and late La Tene period finds attest to this area having been settled from the earliest times. The municipality received the rights to hold a market here in 1493 when it received its coat of arms. Around the market place are some beautiful two storied rural style houses from the 17th century although the majority have been given 19th century facades. In the centre of the Marktplatz there is the square market cross with a status of Roland and the market arms.
