The Museum Gugging, picturesquely set on a hill on the edge of the Wienerwald, is a unique art museum showing, in the main, the works of art produced by the artists of Gugging. The building is a former psychiatric institute which was built 1890 but is now completely devoted to art, having around thirteen hundred square metres of exhibition space. Nearby is the famous Haus der Künstler, House of the Artists, co-operative, where local artists both live and work.
