The Factory, which is housed on the first floor of the former Eybl carpet factory, at the Kunsthalle Krems is a place of cultural communication and interaction dedicated to contemporary artistic activity. The centre’s exhibitions and other events are intended to bring Austrian and international art to the widest possible audience and The Factory invites predominantly international artists to live and work here for several weeks or even months. Artists-in-residence in recent years have come from from France, Japan, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Kirghistan, South Korea, Russia, the Czech Republic, England, and Senegal.
