The Elisabeth-Kircherl, eighteen hundred metres above sea level on the summit of the Schneeberg, was built as a memorial to Empress Elizabeth, nick named Sisi, in 1901. The chapel commemorates her assassination 10th September 1898. It can be found next to the mountain station of the Schneebergbahn, a 9.5 kilometre long, 19th century narrow gauge rack railway that runs from Puchberg am Schneeberg to Hochschneeberg. From this vantage point, next to the chapel, there are superb views of the surrounding countryside.
