The modestly sized but elegant Deutschordenkirche was built in 1739 to the plans of the great Baroque architect Lukas von Hildebrandt by the master builder Johann Michael Prunner. The coat of arms on the façade, belonging to Prince Harrach, and the allegorical figures of Vigilance, Generosity, Chastity and Obedience are the most notable exterior features. The figures allude to the virtues embraced by the Teutonic Knights. The church’s clock tower is topped by a mushroom shaped dome with a cross.
