The Karikaturmuseum Krems was built to the plans of the architect and caricaturist Gustav Peichl (IRONIMUS) and opened in 2001 to showcase one of the most underestimated art forms. The museum’s first exhibition showed a cross section of the most important international caricatures and satirical cartoons. The special emphasis since its inception has been on presenting the best in cartoon art, both humorous and political. The organisation has three criteria for its exhibition programme; artistic quality, variety and international standing.
