Kapuzinerstrasse, A-4020 Linz - Austria

Map

The parish church of St. Matthias, also known as the. Kapuzinerkirche, stands close by Linz’s new cathedral. The church, which is part of a former monastery, was constructed in the 17th century. The altars and pulpit are of a much later date, having been designed by Josef Kepplinger in the 19th century. In the church there is a grave containing the heart of Count Montecuccoli, victor over the Turks in the battle of Mogersdorf in 1664, who died at Linz in 1680.
