Linz’s famous concert house, which was opened in 1974 after years of planning, is named after the composer Anton Bruckner and hosts an international annual festival in his name, the Brucknerfestes. The Brucknerhaus aims to present music of the highest artistic level and features classical and contemporary music, and famous orchestras, soloists and conductors in its programme. However, the organisation doesn’t limit itself to classical music fare and often features performances of more popular and non-European music and also hosts Ars Electronica, the International Competition for CyberArts.
