Ars Electronica opened in 1996 describing itself as the “Museum of the Future”. The centre’s five floors of interactive exhibits and projects contain state-of-the art information and communication technologies showing how they impact on the world of art, work and leisure. Amongst the many attractions there is a personal flight simulator, for those who wish to find out what it is like to fly like Superman, a media art laboratory showing work by international artists and also a CAVE, a virtual reality installation, in which visitors can experience total immersion in virtual worlds.
