The Arche Noah plant refuge, which is a show garden and plant breeding centre, was founded in 1994 and is operated by The Society for the Preservation of Cultivated Plants. Each year the establishment grows over nine hundred varieties of garden plants, arable crops, herbs and flowers and the seed archives contain thousands of samples. The centre offers expert advice to gardeners about the cultivation of plants and sells both plants and seeds to the public.
