In 1550 the merchant Christopher Weitmoser acquired the ancient Goldeckerhof which unfortunately burnt down in 1553. It was quickly rebuilt and this late Gothic building is incorporated into the northern part of the castle. The Weitmoser family sold the castle in 1604 after running into financial difficulties and it passed into the hands of the merchant George Leykofer who remodelled it in its present form. Finally, in 1752, it passed into the hands of its present owners, the Scharfetter family. The family run a guest house, restaurant and café in the castle nowadays.
