Haslach was traditionally a centre for linen weaving and trading for the whole of the Muehlviertels region. In fact, its technical school, founded in 1883, was once a weaving mill school. The Webereimuseum is dedicated to preserving the history of the linen industry, from flax to canvas. The collection, including many historic machines, spans linen production from the earliest hand weavers to the Jacquard loom and beyond to modern technologies. The exhibits also show how linseed oil, a by-product pressed from flax seed, is used, in medicinal applications for example.
