Altmarkt is an idyllic, traditional village close to the alpine resort of Zauchensee. The folk museum is housed in the Hoamathaus, a beautiful, original, rural ,building, which dates from the early 15th century. The museum offers an insight into the lives and culture in the region in past times. Near the folk museum is the Dechantshofstadl, a working mill, where, given the availability of sheaves of wheat, you can grind your own flour. If you time your visit right you may also witness the procession which takes place every four years when the 14th century statue of the Madonna is paraded in the streets.
