The house at 21 Haupstrasse in Gutenstein houses the Ferdinand Raimund memorial museum. Although Viennese by birth, Raimund often spent time in Gutenstein and the memorial museum has a considerable collection of items associated with the famous playwright. The exhibits include theatre bills, watercolours, literature and photographs as well as the playwright’s bed and a lock of his hair. The rare watercolours, by Johann Christian Schoeller, dating from between 1826 and 1836, illustrate scenes from various plays which were performed in Vienna.
