Schloss Prugg was built in the 12th century around a much older Roman tower. In 1564 it came into the possession of the Barons von Harrach. The castle was remodelled in the Baroque style in the 18th century by the architect Lukas von Hildebrandt and subsequently it was again rebuilt in the Tudor style to the design of Charles Buckton Lamb. Today its most noteworthy feature is the extensive 18th century park, created in the style of an English landscape garden by Christoph Luebeck.
