The Klaviermuseum Stoitzendorf is housed in an Italianate 13th century castle which was formerly owned by the Klosterneuburg monastery. This unique piano museum contains the informal collection of pianos restored by Dr. Hermann Buchner. The castle’s concert room has a magnificent Bösendorf grand piano, built in 1839, from the Biedermeier period and an equally outstanding Blüthner grand with original mechanics. Altogether there are over thirty examples of pianos from the world’s best manufacturers. The castle is also used for concerts not only of piano music but also mediaeval music on period instruments.
