The Gothic Pfarrkirche St. Marien, which is one of the oldest mendicant churches in Austria, is situated in the southern part of the old town. The church was established in 1276, the elongated choir was added in the 14th century and further modifications were made in the second half of the 15th century to give the building its present form. The colourful modern stained glass windows in the choir, by the avant-garde artist Markus Prachensky, are particularly noteworthy
