The Roman Catholic parish church of Hollabrunn is dedicated to St. Ulrich (circa 890-July 4th, 973), a former Bishop of Augsburg and one of the first saints to be officially canonized. The church was established in the 12th century and rebuilt after destruction in the 14th century. The external architecture is predominantly Gothic and neo-Gothic as the characteristically Baroque onion dome on the 37 metre high church tower was removed in 1878. The church was surrounded by the town’s graveyard until the late 18th century.
