The Oberösterreichische Schiffahrtsmuseum in Schloss Greinburg is dedicated to the history of shipping on the Danube, its tributaries and the lakes of Upper Austria. There is evidence that ancient boatmen plied the waters of the Danube from pre-historic times and the museum’s collections are divided both chronologically and thematically to demonstrate how shipping developed over the ages. There are sections devoted to shipping in antiquity, Roman inland navigation, the Middle Ages, the Danube boatmen, passenger traffic and shipping on the Traunsee.
