The Krahuletz-Museum was opened by the Krahuletz Society in 1902 based on the collection of the researcher Johann Krahuletz, who lived from 1848 to1928. The unique collection contains a wide range of geological, archaeological, prehistoric, cultural and folk objects which span a period of a billion years. The permanent collection is supplemented by frequent special exhibitions. Amongst the highlights of the museum are the ancient rock samples, minerals, shark’s teeth, the famous Eggenburg crocodile and the mammoth of Alberndorf. The museum shop has a selection of related literature and regional products.
