The Museum Historischer Bierkrüge is probably unique in the whole world and certainly in Austria. It contains a collection of over three hundred and fifty jugs dating from 1750 to 1950, showing an often neglected cultural, artistic and historical aspect of Austria’s long standing passion for beer. The exhibits, some serving jugs and others drinking jugs, come from a variety of sources; breweries, guilds, associations, students. Many of the jugs, which are mostly stoneware but also fashioned from glass and wood, were made to commemorate special events.
