The Stadtmuseum Lauriacum houses one of the most important Roman collections in Austria. The ground floor is taken up by exhibitions of Roman monumental sculpture, reliefs, inscriptions, altars pieces and artefacts excavated from Roman graves. The museum also has a prehistoric collection devoted to the history of the settlement of the Enns area and the Danube valley. There is a comprehensive collection of weapons from the middle ages to the present, including swords and firearms. Inside, there is the Stadtsaal, a beautiful Rococo hall with historical paintings and a facsimile of the 13th century municipal charter.
