The Museum der Stadt Bad Ischl, which first opened in 1989, is accommodated in the historical Seeauerhaus directly on the banks of the Traun at the Esplanade. The museum presents the local history of Bad Ischl and the Salzkammergut particularly in connection with the salt mining industry and the rise of the health resort and its imperial connections. Exhibitions of works by local and international artists are a feature of the museum’s programme as are special shows complementing the permanent collections.
