Just outside Ebenau there are a number of historic water mills, seven in total, which are open to the public. For example, the Edermühle, where oats, corn and rye were ground, was built in 1742 and was working until 1955. There is also the 16th century Pertillmühle which, incredibly, was in use until 1967. The 16th century Schroffenaumühle, also used for milling rye, wheat, barley and corn, has the best location of them all, being situated at the foot of the Plötz waterfall.
