The Steinapiesting flows past Gutenstein through a narrow ravine over which a wooden bridge was built in the Middle Ages. Although the ancient bridge has been replaced in modern times, the location still yields a beautiful view of Gutenstein castle standing in its picturesque location on a steep cliff. The romantic view has provided endless inspiration for poets and painters, no more so than in the 19th century. The famous playwright Ferdinand Raimund was inspired to write a passage about it in his play "Verschwender".
