The Kollmitzberg Kirtag, which has been going for over four hundred years, is Lower Austria’s biggest country fair with something to offer for everyone. The original fair took place in the Stift Argdagger but, in the 17th century, it moved outdoors onto the Kollmitzberg because of the plague. Traditionally it was where shoemakers from all over the country came to trade their wares. Nowadays visitors will be faced by over three hundred exhibitors selling everything from textiles to agricultural machinery. The Kirtag takes place on a Saturday and Sunday in late September.
