The Jugenstil Haenel Pancera mansion was formerly owned by the engineer Haenel and his wife, Gabriele Pancera, the well-known concert pianist who was a favourite of Queen Victoria. In the course of their professional lives, the art loving couple travelled the world extensively and brought back a huge number of works, particularly from Asia, which are now on display. The highlight of the museum, which contains a huge diversity of art from different places and eras, is the oriental Moorish Room.
