The Stein- und Glasmuseum in Gmünd traces the fascinating history of glass manufacture in the Waldviertl. The glass works of the Lower Austria/Bohemia border lands go back at least to the 14th century, a fact which is amply demonstrated by the extensive historical objects housed in the museum. There are exhibitions devoted to the craft of glass making including stained glass as well as everyday household objects such as cups, containers and measuring devices. Manufacturing methods are illustrated by the collection of glass making tools and a furnace.
