Although the collection and preservation of the artistic and cultural heritage is important, natural history, which shapes our landscape and environment is often neglected. Mineralienzentrum Steinstadel was founded to preserve Lower Austria’s geological history and has a comprehensive collection of rocks, minerals and fossils. The collection can be found in an ancient, protected building, itself made of local stone. The purpose of the centre is not only to preserve and document the geological finds but also to present them in an exciting way to a lay audience.
