The Museum Bad Gastein dates form the town’s 500th anniversary in 1936. Its collections are devoted mainly to mineralogy, geology and goldmining, history of Gastein, hunting, local culture and folklore. There is an important collection of paintings by the court painters of archduke Johann of Austria, Thomas Ender and Matthäus Loder, which were assembled by the museum’s founder. In addition, the museum also offers guided historical and botanical walks through Bad Gastein to visitors and locals conducted by knowledgeable representatives of the museum.
