Gutenstein’s Feuerwehrmuseum was opened in 1999 and documents the long history of the local volunteer fire brigade. The oldest exhibit is a fine hand pump dating from 1791, on loan from the Schmidt family. The collection includes uniforms, fire brigade memorabilia, flags, documents, tools and equipment. Visitors can see the very first self powered pump purchased by the brigade in 1899 along the other, contemporary items. The museum charts the development in fire fighting techniques over the last three centuries.
