The Evangelische Kirche was Attersee’s parish church in the 9th century and was originally dedicated to St. Martin. Later it became a cemetery church until it was sold to Protestants in 1813. The church tower was added in 1854 but it wasn’t until 1900 that the interior was remodelled in its present form. The late 19th century additions include a carved wing altar and a copy of the Pilgrim pulpit of the Viennese St. Stephen’s Cathedral, which, curiously enough is a Catholic church. The renovated Grave Chapel, constructed in 1895, on the left outside wall is a wonderful example of the Laxenburg Gothic style.
