The Georgskirche is a post Gothic building of the Renaissance but built in the Gothic style. It was constructed between 1593 and 1597 as a replacement for a 14th century building, under the patronage of the Puchheim family. Later the church was remodelled in the Baroque style although the polygonal spire dates from much later, in fact from the 19th century. This is one of the largest Protestant churches in the whole of Austria. There are a number of noteworthy features in the church, for example the wooden Rococo pulpit built in 1772, which is decorated with gilded and silvered ornamentation.
