At one time the parish church of Gloggnitz was the castle church but by the middle of the 19th century it had proved itself to be unsuitable due to lack of space. It wasn’t until 1933, however, that the foundation stone of the Christkönigskirche was laid and consecration of the completed church didn’t take place until 1962. The massive twenty nine metre high tower has a fins mosaic showing a waking angel over which there is a round window with elaborate tracery. The nave of the church also has a beautiful mosaic near the altar which shows Christ the King and the four evangelists. There are other fine modern features which should not be missed such as the ceramic font and the rock crystal and rose quartz windows of the side chapels.
