The Zweirad Museum is the first Austrian museum to be dedicated to the history of the bicycle and motorcycle, from 1817 to the present day. The museum owes its existence to a three month exhibition of bicycles in 1995 which was so popular that the organisers decided to create a permanent collection. Most of the exhibits are maintained in working order. This is probably the only place in the world where you can ride a replica of an 1817 Freiherrn von Drais running machine, the earliest type of bicycle which curiously has no mechanical driving mechanism.
