The main collection of works of the ‘Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien’ is from the sixties and seventies and covers Pop Art, Photo-Realism, Fluxus, Nouveau Réalisme and Viennese Actionism. Enclosed in a 14,000 sq. metre, grey basalt-lava stone cube, within the baroque area of Fischer von Erlach’s former stables, the museum was inaugurated in 1962 but only moved to its current location in 2001. The three levels of permanent exhibition space change their focus every year and the MUMOK Factory, with its temporary cinema, also includes several exhibition levels available for special exhibitions and contemporary art.
