Built by Emporer Friedrich III in the 15th century, the Hofburgkapelle contains the Hofmusikkapelle; one of the oldest music institutions in Europe and considered to be one of the first places of music performance in Vienna. Many famous composers were members including Franz Schubert. As well as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mens’ Choir, visitors flock here to hear the Vienna Boys’ Choir, founded in 1498 by Emporer Maximilian I. Tickets to hear the choir sing Sunday morning mass are like gold dust.
