Austrian Parliament
Dr. Karl-Renner-Ring 3, 1017 Vienna - Austria

Map
Designed by the Danish architect Theophil Hansen, this building, with its imposing Corinthian portico, is the home of the Austrian Parliament and its 183 members. Built in neo-Renaissance and classical Greek style, it was completed in 1884. An enormous statue by Karl Kundemann, of the goddess Athena officiating over a fountain and four mermen, stands proudly at the front of the building. The two chambers of the Parliament, Nationalrat and Bundesrat, now sit in a modern, functional assembly following extensive reconstruction work after bombing raids during the Second World War left less than half of its structure intact.
