Schloss Almegg is used as a regional cultural centre for exhibitions of arts and crafts as well as concerts, lectures and a huge annual arts and crafts market held in November. The castle, which has changed hands many times over the centuries, is first mentioned in the 8th century and was rebuilt after being plundered and burnt down in the early 17th century. Since 1972 the buildings have been the subject of considerable restoration work. And the association with the Kulturforum Schloss Almegg-Schloss Hagenau began in 1979.
