Founded by Duke Albert, in 1768, this is one of the principal graphical art collections in the world. Started with a personal collection, with 30,000 items donated by Giacomo Durazzo, it has expanded over the years to include 50,000 drawings, etchings and watercolours and over 1.5 million printed works. Raphael, Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Picasso and Klimt are all housed here, but the vast nature of the collection means that exhibitions are only ever temporary. A cinema shows documentaries and films from it extensive archive and the collection of papyrus from the Austrian National library is also here.
