Since its establishment in the year 1913, MAERZ has been dedicated to the international exchange of artistic ideas by providing a place where contemporary artists, from various disciplines, can meet and present and discuss their work. The cooperative has only recently had its own premises as for many years its activities were hosted by both local and foreign organisations. MAERZ’s activities encompass art, literature and music and as a result there is an extensive programme of exhibitions, lectures, readings and concerts.
